Change Detection Research Interests
My interest in change detection research stems from a broader, longtime, interest in structural descriptions as a foundation of cognition. It seems to me that discovery of the importance of different types of organization to knowledge and behavior is bringing a major paradigm shift to psychology. The change detection literature provides an interesting slant on this effort, for it makes it plain that cognitive organization is critical to encoding information immediately. My one paper on change detection lays out this point of view in somewhat more detail.
Other Research Interests
structural description, physical reasoning, spatial cognition, computer graphics, virtual reality
