Change Detection Research Interests
The relationships between intrinsic and extrinsic factors that impact the ability to detect changes in realistic scenes are the focus of my research conducted with Art Kramer and Dave Irwin. The intrinsic factors that we examined included attentional breadth, working memory, perceptual speed and inhibitory/interference ability. Extrinsic factors included characteristics of the change (e.g., salience, meaningfulness) and characteristics of the scene environment (e.g., the context in which the scene occurs). We also recorded eye movement behaviors as a means to implicitly assess the ability to detect change without awareness.

Other Research Interests
age-related effects on visual attention, the design of systems to better accommodate human users.
