Change Detection Research Interests
I am interested in how we piece together our visual representations in the real world. At the moment I am looking at what happens to the visual "snapshots" from successive fixations in a real life task (making a cup of tea). As suggested by change blindness studies, the visual snapshots are not retained for integration. My data suggests that visual snapshots are overwritten by the next snapshot in a variable window close to the start of each new fixation. I hope to use experiments similar to the Rensink's "flicker" protocols to look in more detail at the timing of the overwriting of visual snapshots. I am also interested in looking at what is taken forward from each fixation in order to construct our visual representations.

Other Research Interests
Active vision, visual attention theory
